Dhu al Qa’dah 29, 1441
July 21, 2020

Al salamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullah

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones in the best of health and iman. On behalf of the Board of Religious Services of the BC Muslim Association, I am pleased to inform you that the crescent of Dhu al Hijjah has been sighted in multiple locations across the globe. The crescent was also sighted in Delta B.C. by our local Imams Mohammed Shujaath Ali, Abdurrahman Khan, and Omar al Ani. As per our Verified Moonsighting Policy, the month Dhu al Hijjah will commence on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. A few important dates are mentioned below.

1.     The day on ‘Arafah (9th of Dhu al Hijjah) will be on Thursday, July 30, 2020.
2.     The day of Eid al Adha will be on Friday, July 31, 2020.
3.     The days of Tashriq (11th, 12th, and 13th of Dhu al Hijjah) will be on August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

The first 10 days of Dhu al Hijjah mark a blessed time of year for Muslims. I encourage you to engage in acts of obedience and abstain from vice. It is also recommended to fast of the day of ‘Arafah.

Due to the restrictions imposed by the Provincial health authorities, our masajid will have a limited congregation for Eid salah. Please check with your local masjid regarding registration protocols if you would like to attend.

May Allah shower us with His mercy during these blessed days. May He accept our worship and deliver us from this pandemic safely and in the best of health. Amin
