Press Release - on the Sheikh Jarrah and Al-Aqsa Mosque Situation

10 May

The BC Muslim Association firmly establishes our commitment to the safety,

security, and freedom of the Palestinian people.

We strongly condemn the continuing heavy handed and disproportional attacks of

the Israeli authorities. As of this writing there is breaking news that 20 civilians

were killed by Israeli airstrikes against Palestinians in Gaza. According to Human

Rights watch, the Israeli authorities are guilty of crimes of Apartheid and

persecution.

We ask our community to not only pray for the safety and security of those who

face generational oppression, but also to mobilize, with our allies, and provide

urgent medical and humanitarian support to the Palestinian People.

We also ask you join us at www.nccm.ca/alaqsa in telling the Federal Government

to denounce, in no uncertain terms, the attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

The Israeli government does not represent the views of all Jewish people and we ask

those allies from the Jewish community, who denounce acts of violence and oppression, to stand with us in this cause.
