I hope you are in the best of health and iman. On behalf of the Board of Religious Services of the BC Muslim Association, I am pleased to announce that the month of Dhu al Hijjah will be completing 30 days. Tuesday, August 10, 2021 will be the 1st of Muharram 1443.
As per our Verified Moonsighting Policy, we were unable to obtain any credible reports the crescent moon had been sighted anywhere in the world on the 29th of Dhu al Hijjah. The Board is aware of the Iraqi, Egyptian, and Syrian declarations stating August 9 to be the first of Muahrram. Upon investigating these declarations, we concluded they were based on pre-determined calculations and not an actual sighting of the crescent moon.
May Allah ? enable us to make the most of the blessed month of Muharram and grant us the ability to remain steadfast upon the Sunnah of His Prophet ?.
