The Muslim Community is Castlegar is comprised of a diverse group of engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs, college professors and students. We also have members with reputable Islamic knowledge and credentials, who Inshaa’ Allah will be able to lead the community here in the Kootenays. The number of Muslims in the region is much larger than 35 and still growing. As a community, we are trying to establish an Islamic center where the community can continue to grow, gather and benefit from each other. By becoming a chapter of the BCMA we believe that we will be able to reach out to all the Muslims in British Columbia and Canada to help us establish the first Islamic Center in the Kootenays.
The building of a mosque is a way for a person to continue to earn blessings after death. As a community, we are trying to establish an Islamic center where the community can continue to grow, gather and benefit from each other. Muslims in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada are raising money to establish their first mosque in Castlegar, BC. Currently the closest mosque is about a 3.5 hr drive to Kelowna, BC or a 3+ hr drive to Spokane, WA, USA. The Muslim community is growing in Castlegar and we are in need of a place to establish the 5 daily prayers and perform Jumaa prayers in congregation as well as having a place to hold our weekly Islamic/Quraan school for the youth.
